Conservative councillors have treated the residents of Barnet with complete disdain, as if the residents of the borough were mere voting fodder for their automatic re-election.

These conceited Tory councillors this time came unstuck and the residents of the borough gave them their marching orders in no uncertain terms. The Labour Party with additional councillors (and well deserved) can really make life hell for the pompous Tories remaining.

The council’s attack upon motorists has been unstoppable. Shopkeepers have been made to suffer by parking wardens on orders to persecute motorists who attempt to shop locally. These wardens on scooters persecute motorists for the most minor infringements. Experts warn the numbers of fines is likely to rise even higher unless councils refrain from hitting drivers with “opportunistic” penalties.

Barnet Borough Council was second in London’s top seven places for total revenue after Westminster collected £8.9million from parking tickets. This severity has caused concern over the tactics used and the voters of Barnet, standing no more nonsense from the Tories, have given them their marching orders.

Perhaps the council might now instruct the chief executive officer to put this house order and set up a committee to take fair and proportionate action not based on increasing the scale of revenues raised that has caused controversy over the tactics used by Barnet’s Tory council.

Goodbye Tory councillors and good riddance.
