Barnet councillors should hang their heads in shame over the abandonment of Church Farmhouse Museum in March 2011 and the inevitable decay of the building. Of course it is an opportunity for thieves to steal York paving slabs and goodness knows what else will happen before the building is put on the At Risk Register by English Heritage. What makes matters much worse is that we taxpayers are paying £85 per day for security. What on earth is the security company doing? Barnet Borough Council was told at the time that once the museum closed it would be a target. It would have cost the council less money to keep it open and continue to provide a much-loved and used amenity for the borough.
