We are constantly told that the economy is recovering. Yet Tally Ho Discount in North Finchley, a very popular family-owned store that has survived for 25 years, has had to close.
I have heard that it is going to be a Tesco. Of course, Barnet is crying out for yet more Tesco stores — we need one at least every 500 yards.
Seriously, Tally Ho Discount, despite being busy, was destroyed by outrageous rents and business tax and within ten years there will be no independent stores left.
