Along with all boroughs nationally, Barnet has to save costs, and increasing recycling rates is one of the desired ways to do this.
I am continually shocked by my fellow Barnet residents who simply can’t be bothered to recycle, or for ‘neo-conservative’ reasons – they don’t believe in recycling.
Surely some sort of inspection and even, dare I say it, fining, must be introduced. Residents who never use their recycling or food waste bins must see the consequences. This has to be tackled, otherwise I don’t see how Barnet will be able to increase recycling rates. After all, it is everyone else who has to pay.
