Edgar Davids was “absolutely delighted” with Barnet’s performance in the Bees shock 1-0 win over League Two leaders Gillingham.

A solitary first half goal from Jake Hyde settled the contest and Barnet defended brilliantly throughout the game to collect the three points.

The result lifts Barnet to 21st in League Two table – three points clear of the bottom two.

Davids said: “I’m absolutely delighted. We believed in ourselves and believed we could do it. It was tough but it a very good win for us.

“If you play like a team then you can give every team a hard time. We closed down in the midfield and counter-attacked and that resulted in our goal.”

He continued: “It is all about progress and getting the points – whoever we play against. We are out of the bottom two but in two or three weeks we could go back in.

“But you don’t have to change what we are doing. You can see progression and what we have trained you could see in the match.

“So that is important for us now to focus on the progression and we continue to get a steady flow of points.”
