Darren Barker is the believed frontrunner to take on former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Junior on June 22 and the Barnet-born boxer insists he will be victorious whether the fight is held in London or Mexico City.

Since returning from injury in December, Barker has claimed comfortable victories over Kerry Hope and Italian fighter Simone Rotolo.

Barker and Chavez Junior have both only suffered one defeat in their professional careers and they both came against Sergio Martinez.

Barker tweeted that no matter where the fight takes place, he would be “100 per cent” be coming back a winner.

Chavez has described Barker as a “good fighter” and admits the fight is being considered.

“Barker has only lost to Maravilla Martinez and I would like to fight someone of that level.

“Making a fight with (Matthew) Macklin seems to have been difficult, and because of that Barker has turned into a good candidate – although there are some others being considered,” Chavez told boxingscene.com.
