Staff at The Hive have been left furious after hundreds of pounds were deducted from their pay.

Employees on full-time salaries at the club’s new stadium and training ground The Hive contacted The Times Series after discovering large shortfalls in their wage packets on Friday.

Individuals were deducted as much as £300 from their monthly pay at a time when club chairman Tony Kleanthous is enjoying a summer holiday.

Some gym staff also discovered they had been deducted a month’s membership for the gym.

Workers in various departments were told the money had been deducted after they failed to clock in and out properly under a new system at the ground, in Camrose Avenue, Edgware.

But staff told this newspaper the technology is faulty and has regularly been out of action since it was introduced last month.

Angry employees contacted the human resources department this week and were reportedly advised to submit details of their shift patterns to the department manager.

Employees said they were told these would be checked on The Hive’s CCTV system before any of the money was reimbursed.

One member of staff, who did not wish to be named, contacted his lawyer about the situation.

He said: “It’s disgraceful. People have mortgages to pay and we have no idea when and if we’re getting this money – they’re messing with people’s lives.”

Many staff members said they had been taxed their usual amount and deducted full National Insurance payments, despite the reduced wages.

Those who contacted the newspaper said the shortfall has lowered morale among staff, who are already made to pay daily rates to use the car park at The Bees’ new home.

The unnamed employee added: “Everyone has been in uproar. We feel like we’re being fobbed off. They told us the money would be in on Monday but it hasn’t been paid and now they want us to write to them - it is just wrong.”

The club declined to comment on the situation when contacted by The Times Series this afternoon.
