Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers’ Richard Goodman helped Great Britain & Northern Ireland claim a gold medal in the Under-23 race at the European Cross Country Championships in Belgrade.
Goodman crossed the line in 21st place overall and was the fifth British athlete home after he stopped the lock in 24.41.
Michael Callegari took part in the Under-20 race and was GB’s third finisher in 22nd place. He clocked 18.35 but the team finished in fourth place overall.
At the third North West London League match, Barnet had 28 runners in action and there were wins for Lucca Stubbs (Under-11), Jamie Harper (Under-13) and George Groom (Under-15).
Meanwhile, Shaftesbury were named Track and Field Club for 2013 by respected magazine Athletics Weekly.
It comes after the club retained their Premiership title and will go on to represent Britain in the European Champion Clubs Cup in Portugal next year.
