Martin Allen will pick his "best team" for Barnet's final home game of the season against Braintree Town on Monday
Martin Allen says he will pick his "best team" against Braintree Town on Monday with the players "gagging" to make amends for the 4-0 defeat by Halifax last Saturday.
Defeat by Halifax at The Hive all but ended the Bees' chances of making the top five, giving Allen the opportunity to use a number of the club's fringe players in the 1-0 win at Nuneaton Town yesterday.
Ahead of the Bees' final home game of the season against Braintree Town on Bank Holiday Monday, Allen has confirmed he will pick his strongest available side once more.
"All those players [who played against Halifax] are absolutely gagging and desperate to play to put on a good performance and I think it’s the right thing to do with Braintree being on the edge of the play-offs," said Allen.
With only the final day trip to Lincoln City remaing after tomorrow, Allen is keen for his players to end the season on a high note in front of their own fans.
"It was a very disappointed dressing room after Halifax, in front of our own supporters," admitted Allen.
"We all felt – me included – very down after that game and fed up, upset with ourselves – me included – because we didn’t really do it on the day in front of our own supporters & there was a really good atmosphere, a real buzz around the ground that day and it didn’t happen.
Braintree are in sixth, a place and a point outside the play-offs after catching up with those around them following a spate of postponements earlier in the year.
"I think it’s the right thing to do to play our best team and I think that’s the fair thing to do to all the other clubs that are at that level around those play-offs."
Allen continued: "I’ve got to do the right thing for them and of course for the players that played against Halifax. I want to see them back on the field and doing what I know they can do."
