Martin Allen has confirmed Keanu Marsh-Brown has been left out of Barnet’s travelling party for today’s game at Southport after the club received “offers” which “need to be considered”.

The winger, who has made just one league start for Barnet this season, was transfer listed at the end of last season in order to raise funds but despite speculation to the contrary, no offers had been received until earlier this week.

Speaking prior to this afternoon’s trip to Southport, Allen revealed the 22-year-old had been left at home “in the interests of the club” ahead of any potential move away from The Hive.

He said: “I had a chat with the chairman on Thursday; some offers have come into the chairman that he feels need to be considered.

“They’ve not been finalised yet but on Friday morning we had another meeting and we thought it would be the best interests for the football club, the team and also, of course, considering Keanu’s position, that he would be left at home this weekend, with the view to something maybe happening at the beginning of the week.”

Allen continued: “He’s trained with us all week, he’s been absolutely fine but, like I say, if something does happen then it’s best that he’s fit and well, in the interests of the club, the team and of course, an unsettling period and an unsettling time for Keanu himself.”

Marsh-Brown has made three substitute appearances to go with his solitary start this term, scoring twice in Barnet's opening six fixtures. Though Allen admits speculation over the former Fulham youngster's future has been "unsettling" for the player.

"It is very difficult and unsettling for him," admitted Allen. "I wanted to give him an opportunity through the summer but nobody actually made any offers. If he can go and play one or two divisions higher and earn a lot more money, well then good for him.

"I chat to him on a regular basis and his attitude for me since I’ve been here has been spot on. I think all supporters would realise that it is unsettling, it is difficult and he wants to try and get something sorted."

Marsh-Brown's exit is far from completed, though, Allen confirmed: "If he does stay, I know that Keanu will bring value to our team. He’ll score goals for us, he’ll win us games and he’ll be a valuable squad member.

"But, if something does happen where the football club can benefit financially and we can still maintain the run of form that we are on, well then that has got to make good business sense."
