Hendon reached the Isthmian League Cup quarter finals for the first time since 2003 with a 1-0 home win against Hampton & Richmond Borough on Tuesday.

The pitch survived a late inspection after the overnight snow and both teams struggled to adapt to the tricky conditions.

After a slow start from the hosts, Dave Diedhiou and James Fisher went close but Hampton & Richmond's defence stood firm to end an even first half.

The deadlock was broken in the 48th minute when Diedhiou’s tantalising cross was nodded home by Kezie Ibe.

Hendon thought they had doubled their lead on the hour mark through Leon Smith but the striker was offside.

The visitors almost snatched an equaliser with five minutes remaining but Ben Hunt’s shot bounced agonisingly off the post and away to safety.

The win was a perfect way to mark manager Gary McCann’s tenth anniversary in charge of the club and as a reward, the Greens will face Isthmian Premier Division leaders Maidstone United in the last eight.

On Saturday Hendon fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Peacehaven & Telscombe in the Isthmian Premier Division.

Peacehaven dominated proceedings on their own patch and kept Hendon goalkeeper Ben McNamara busy throughout the first half.

Promotion-chasing Hendon were left aggrieved when Lee O’Leary was controversially denied a goal for fouling the keeper, much to the dismay of the visitors.

Ten minutes before half time Peacehaven’s dominance was rewarded and they took the lead through a header that just eluded McNamara.

Hendon manager McCann made two changes at half time, with Smith and Andre Da Costa replacing Aaron Morgan and Diedhiou. And the substitutes combined well to set up Ibe but his shot was tame.

The Magpies sealed the win with six minutes remaining, when from a swift counter attack midfielder Tom Burton tucked the ball away with surgical precision.

Da Costa threatened to claim a consolation goal but was denied by the post and the assured Magpies keeper, but Peacehaven held on for a deserved win.
