Barnet Elizabethans crushed Old Millhillians 52-0 in the Hertfordshire-Middlesex League 1 on Saturday.

Centre Matt Nicholas’ individual effort opening the scoring followed almost immediately by captain Peter Moulton for try number two.

Glyn Bayley’s superb 50-metre try left the visitors reeling and the bonus point was secured when the flawless Harry Eade touched down to end a sumptuous first-half display.

The onslaught never wavered and the overwhelmed Millhillians were engulfed by a whirlwind hat-trick of tries – a double from replacement centre Sean Blake and a second from Bayley for a 47-0 lead.

BE finished with a flourish through a fine team move rounded off by Adrian Todd, with Eade adding the extras to take his tally to 12 points.

Next up for BE is the Bank of England this Saturday.

Hendon pushed runaway Herts-Middlesex League 2 leaders Hillingdon Abbots to their narrowest win of the season in a 17-7 defeat. Hillingdon, whose previous lowest winning margin was 35 points, raced into a 10-0 lead following Hendon’s indiscipline and it was 17-0 just before half time from a driving maul.

Hendon’s comeback wasn’t helped by wayward kicking but they finally got their reward through scrum-half Mike Evans Jones, with his try being converted.

Despite a below-par performance from the hosts they have already qualified for phase two of the league together with London French, Saracen Amateurs, Thamesians and Watford.
