Altrincham have eased their relegation fears in recent weeks after putting together a run of four consecutive Conference victories.

Lee Sinnott’s side had been as low as 23rd earlier in the season but four straight victories lifted the Robins away from relegation danger and up to 14th in the table.

Currently 15th, Sinnott’s side have only taken one point from their last three though, with high-flying Macclesfield Town, Forest Green Rovers and new league-leaders Bristol Rovers providing tough opposition.

However, Sinnott says he will not set his side up different against the stronger sides in the division.

Speaking through his column for Altrincham Today, the 49-year-old said: “While it is encouraging to be faring so well against teams up at the top, I’ve got a thirst for points, whoever we are up against.

“I’m not that concerned about the opposition as about us doing our best, playing as we can and putting points on the board. That’s the mentality you need and one I hope will remain with the players, week in and week out.”

Sinnott has recently dipped into the transfer market to sign his son, Jordan, after he was released by Championship side Huddersfield Town.

Explaining the decision, the former Bradford Park Avenue, Port Vale and Farsley Celtic boss said: “We’ve got a small squad, and when you consider the positions Jordan can play, he will bring some adaptability, which is important.

“He is comfortable in central midfield or on the right, and that’s just in a 4-4-2. He can fill different roles in other systems as well, and a bi-product of that is that having that extra option can help preserve Simon Richman’s energy, which is so important to us.

“We haven’t got mega-bucks to throw around, but he’s with us to the end of the season, and it’s good to have a bit more strength in depth.”

Sinnott senior added: “He has been here before on loan, so just as we know him, he knows the club and the level of football, albeit it a division higher than two years ago, when he was last here. Given that, and the versatility he brings, his signing ticks the right boxes.”

Damian Reeves is Altrincham’s top scorer with 15 goals and is the only member of the squad to have hit double figures this term.

The 29-year-old striker has previously played for Sinnott at Farsley and has also turned out for Histon and Northwich Victoria before joining Alty in 2010.

With 15 goals in 34 league appearances, the former Barnsley and Leeds United trainee averages a goal every 181 minutes this term.
