London Broncos have agreed the loan signing of Tom Gilmore from Widnes Vikings on a month-long deal.

The 21-year-old joins up in the hope of getting greater first-team experience and will help boost a Broncos squad which has been rocked by a spate of injuries.

They will be without Joe Keyes for two weeks and are awaiting scans on an injury suffered by Nick Slyney last weekend.

“Gilmore has a sound kicking game and has played at super league level in 2014. We look forward to welcoming him to the squad,” head coach Joey Grima told the club site.

“He is a player that Widnes coach Dennis Betts recommended as someone that can get us around the park.”

Gilmore made his debut against Broncos in 2012 and Betts is hoping the short term deal can help his game improve.

He said: “I would like to thank Joe Grima for offering Tom a great opportunity. He’s a talented lad and deserves now to be starting week in week out.

“With the strength of our squad in his position, it means that there are limited opportunities for tom at the moment but we want to develop him so it’s great that he can get some decent game time with London.”

Broncos have made a stuttering start to life in the Championship having been relegated at the end of last season.

They earned a narrow 26-22 win over Doncaster on the opening day but found themselves on the end of a 40-6 trouncing from Sheffield Eagles last weekend.

Gilmore may get an opportunity to make an immediate impact when London Broncos attempt to get back to winning ways when they travel to face Leigh Centurions this Sunday.
