Barnet have signed New Zealand youth international Max Crocombe on a month's loan from Oxford United to provide cover for unavailable pair Graham Stack and Jamie Stephens.

Crocombe was not the goalkeeper who played in Tuesday's training ground friendly against Billericay Town, though.

He arrives at The Hive with Stack injured and Stephens serving a one match ban for being sent off at Portsmouth last week.

Oxford head coach Michael Appleton told the club's website: “We have spoken a few times about the need for Max to play games at this stage in his development and this is the ideal opportunity for him to show what he can do.”

The 22-year-old keeper has represented the All Whites at Under-20 and Under-23 level and was also called up the senior side earlier this year but was not capped.

Born in Auckland, New Zealand, the 6ft 5in stopper impressed whilst on loan at Conference side Nuneaton Town last season and in his first six games kept as many clean sheets for the Boro.

Crocombe began his professional career with MK Dons but in 2009 dropped out the Football League and spent a season with Buckingham Town.

He returned to the professional ranks after just a year, though, joining Oxford. To date he has made a total of six appearances for the U's but is currently the understudy to Sam Slocombe and Benji Buchel.

Crocombe will make his debut for the Bees against Stevenage on Saturday.
