Martin Allen says Nicky Bailey is still training with Barnet ahead of a potential return whilst Mauro Vilhete could leave for Boreham Wood on loan as soon as Monday, the Times Series understands.

Former Bees midfielder Bailey played in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Brentford on Tuesday but it is no clearer as to whether the former Middlesbrough and Millwall man will re-sign for the Bees.

Asked after today’s 3-1 win over York City about the 31-year-old, Allen said: “Nicky Bailey played very well at Brentford on Tuesday.

“We’ve also had a lad called (Danny) Galbraith come in on the left side on Tuesday and played very well at Brentford so he is going to stay with us for a few days. Nicky Bailey is going to stay with us for a few days.

“I’ve got to strengthen the group. I’ve got to improve the group and that might mean some players have got to go because I’m conscious of the amount of players we’ve got now and I don’t like having unhappy players.”

One player who is expected to leave is versatile Portuguese Vilhete. The 22-year-old has already made eight league appearances for the Bees this season but the Times Series understands he is likely to join Boreham Wood on loan on Monday.

Vilhete was left out of the matchday 18 this afternoon and asked why, Allen said: “I’ve had an offer from another club for Mauro to go on loan.

“Mauro is going to make that decision on Monday. I will sit down with Mauro and have a chat [about it]. But he just wasn’t involved today.”

He would join former Bees Charlie MacDonald, Conor Clifford, David Stephens, Clovis Kamdjo, Sam Cox and Joe Devera at Meadow Park, should he make the switch.

Left winger Galbraith last played for Gillingham after beginning his career with Manchester United and Hearts. The 25-year-old was sat with those left out of the matchday 18 today behind the bench.
