Barnet defender Michael Nelson will be out for three months after dislocating his shoulder in last weekend's victory over Crawley Town.
The centre-back was withdrawn just before half-time after falling awkwardly on his left shoulder and went for an x-ray at hospital after having his shoulder put back in place during the break.
However, despite the scan coming back clear, the former Norwich City defender will now be out of action until March.
Speaking to Bees Player, head coach Martin Allen said: "He's gone back up to see his family for Christmas. He won't be with us."
The 35-year-old had come back into the starting XI in place of Bondz N'Gala.
