Barnet captain Andy Yiadom is available for transfer this month with his contract set to expire in June, the Times Series understands.

Yiadom, 24, was subject of several bids from League One side Barnsley in the summer.

But the Bees rejected those offers with head coach Martin Allen labelling them derisory and derogatory before Tykes boss Lee Johnson confirmed the club's pursuit was off.

However, the versatile right-sided player is out of contract in the summer and as he isn’t under the age of 24, Barnet wouldn’t be entitled to compensation.

Football League rule 67.1 states: “A player aged 24 years or over as at 30 June is entitled (subject to Regulation 41) to sign for any club of his choice without restriction on the expiry of his contract on or after that date without payment of any compensation fee.”

Speaking in the summer following interest from Barnsley, Allen said: “The offer we have had, in my opinion, was derisory and what I would class and call derogatory.

“This is not a car-boot sale club, we have got good players here and if you want to come and buy them you have got to bid proper money. Why should we let our players go for [a fee] which is not anywhere near justified?

“He was Player of the Year for England C last season; the best player in the Conference by a country mile and he is a top-quality player.”

Yiadom has scored three times in 27 appearances this season but is currently suspended for three matches following his dismissal against Bristol Rovers last weekend.

He joined the Bees from Braintree Town in January 2013 and has made 161 appearances for the club.
