Potters Bar's Tara Moore has recorded her first grand slam with a straight-sets victory over Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck at Wimbledon.

The Hong Kong-born player, ranked 227 in the world and the British number four, produced a superb performance to win 6-3 6-2 on court 8 in an hour and 18 minutes, in her third appearance at SW19.

Moore, who was a wild card entry in to the championships, passed up three break points before eventually seeing off Van Uytvanck's resistance to lead 5-3 in the opening set.

She was pushed all the way as she looked to serve out the set, as she missed one set point before having to save two break points at deuce, but hung on to close it out.

It was more a case of plain sailing in the second as she broke in the opening game as Van Uytvanck struggled to keep hold of her serve.

She closed in on victory after winning five out of the first six games, as the Belgian struggled to keep up, before she was seen off with ease in the final game, as Moore became the first British woman into the second round.
