It’s still early days but Barnet find themselves third from bottom of the National League table this evening after Ebbsfleet United condemned them to a third successive defeat with a 3-0 victory at the Hive.

Having drawn the first two games of the campaign following their relegation from the Football League, John Still’s men's results have gone backwards since and only his former club, Dagenham & Redbridge, and Maidenhead United have made a worse start to the season.

The outcome might have been different had Medy Elito’s first-half free-kick through the wall found the bottom corner of the net and not been kept out by Nathan Ashmore.

After that, Ebbsfleet gained control shortly before the interval when Danny Kedwell turned on the edge of the area and fired home the opening goal.

That advantage was to be doubled by Corey Whitely after 66 minutes, before Sean Shields added a late third to leave the visitors 10th in the table.

Barnet: Cousins; Alexander, Robson, Fonguck, Adams, Tutonda, Sparkes, Elito (Coulthirst 60), Sweeney, Mason-Clark (Walker 68), Harrison (Barham 79). Not used: Matrevics and Payne.
