The Barnet bandwagon has gathered more momentum after a 1-0 triumph over Maidenhead United secured a fifth successive victory.
What proved to be the decisive moment arrived in only the third minute as Josh Walker netted his first goal for the Bees with a curling strike from the edge of the penalty area.
The win has moved John Still’s in-form side up to ninth in the National League table, with only goal difference keeping them outside the play-off zone.
Walker twice had opportunities to make the home side’s margin of victory more comfortable, first missing the target with a half-volley before he failed to make the most of another opportunity when through on goal.
The Bees, who gave a debut to 16-year-old Martyn Box as a late substitute, were also awarded a penalty in the closing stages when Ephron Mason-Clark was tripped in the 18-yard box, but Byron Harrison hit the woodwork with his spot-kick.
Barnet: Cousins; Robson, Payne (Box 90), Alexander, Johnson, Taylor, Fonguck (Mason-Clark 79), Adams, Sweeney, Harrison, Walker (Kyei 82). Subs not used: Azaze, Sparkes.
