It never rains but it pours.

You have to feel for luckless Barnet at the moment.

It is now six matches in all competitions — and six defeats.

But, to add to manager Paul Fairclough’s woes, he cannot even call upon his new faces to help lift the gloom.

Three of his new signings are sidelined and unavailable for the trip to Lincoln City on Saturday.

Midfielder Nicky Deverdics has only played a few minutes since signing in the summer, while centre-back Jeremy De Magalhaes joined him on the sidelines this week, picking up a groin injury in training just a couple of days after his debut. He could be out for a month.

Transfer deadline capture John O’Flynn, a striker signed from Cork City on Monday, has not even been able to start. He is nursing an ankle injury and not expected to make his debut until the following weekend.

Add to that the injury to skipper Ismail Yakubu. He has a recurrence of his recent groin problem and could be out for two to three weeks.

Fellow centre-back Joe Devera also missed Tuesday night’s 4-2 JP Trophy defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge (see inside for match report), but should be fit for Saturday.

Fairclough had no “natural” central defenders available for the game against the Daggers, and it showed, though the Bees’ performance was still a big improvement on Saturday’s woeful display at Chester City.

Barnet have conceded 20 goals in their six matches to date.

There are at least brighter signs up front, with Adam Birchall netting a superb brace against the Daggers.

The highly-rated O’Flynn, who has scored 68 goals in 138 appearances for Cork, is also a major coup for the Bees. The former Republic of Ireland U21 international was one of the top names in Irish football.
