Lawrie Sanchez has admitted that Barnet will have to delve into the loan market again following their ninth league defeat of the season.

The Bees 3-0 loss against Southend United left Barnet in an all too familiar position as they current occupy 23rd place in League Two.

Sanchez has already brought Gary Borrowdale in on loan from Premier League side Queens Park Rangers and says that has now got to the stage where he thinks that Barnet ‘need to’ bring in a few new faces.

“I think it quite straight forward, what we need is to bring in players that will make a difference to the team.

“The position we are in, the nine defeats in the league we have, you have to say that we need more personnel.”

With Sam Cox leaving the club on loan to join Boreham Wood and the suspensions of Charlie Taylor and Darren Dennehy the Barnet squad for Saturday’s game against Burton Albion is looking very thin.

Sanchez said while he’s looking to bring players to the club it is difficult to find those who will improve the side whilst fitting into the financial constraints that the Bees have.

“We have been talking about getting players in and we have been looking but the problem is at this level you get offered first year pros at other clubs, like Sam Walker last year.

“In the four games I was here for last season I think he was responsible for around three of the goals that were conceded.

“Too be fair to him he is now at Northampton and doing well but he learnt his trade with us last season.

“So what we are offered is the young players who can’t go to Championship or League One sides and their club may not be too sure about them,” the Bees’ boss added.

He continued: “The other option is to get a more experienced player who, for one reason or another, are not getting games like Gary Borrowdale.

“Now the problem with that is trying to afford their wages. The wage-bill here is not fantastic and £1,000 in football does not go very far for an experienced player.

“Gary is only here because QPR have literally done us a favour. So we now need to see if any other clubs will do that for us by maybe perhaps letting us take a player who is not getting games or who is returning from injury.

“So we will persevere and we have been trying. But over the next ten days we will have to bring in maybe three of four players in.”
