Tomorrow’s game against Crewe Alexandra will only be the second time since October that Barnet have had a three o’clock kick off at Underhill.

Due to cup competitions, the busy Christmas schedule and Bees boss Lawrie Sanchez preferring Friday night games, traditional Saturday matches in Barnet have been in short supply in recent months.

Sanchez admitted after the away win against Northampton that the Bees had tried to move the game due to Barnet’s involvement in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

“I prefer the evening kick offs and we did try and ask Crewe to play in the evening because we thought we would have the JPT on the Monday.

“But that was skirted around and we will play them on the Saturday and they are in good form.

“I saw them against Bristol Rovers where they scored five, they won three at Aldershot and they are a team that are playing with freedom.

“They are not worried about relegation and they are not in the playoffs. So they are playing with the freedom because you are not nervous about being near the bottom and you are not nervous about being near the top.

“So I am pleased with the way things are we have Crewe at home this week and we have to make sure we don’t let ourselves down in front of our own fans.”
