Barnet head coach Martin Allen has declared nobody will be joining The Bees, just three days after announcing he would seek an addition because “something is not right.”

The Bees are, however, expected to announce the return of Southend United midfield Conor Clifford on loan until the end of the season after Phil Brown revealed a loan extension had been agreed.

Speaking via an open letter on the club website, Allen said: “Money is available for new players like all of the other clubs that have been throwing it around.

“I told the chairman early on Monday morning that I have total faith in everyone in our squad. I told him that these are the players that got us to the top, that these are the players who have played a cup final every week and that these are the players who can fulfil all of our goals. So nobody will be joining.”

After Saturday’s 3-1 defeat by Forest Green Rovers, Allen had stated his intention to add another player to the squad but refused to confirm in which position he was seeking to add.

He said: “Yes, I will have to [sign someone else on loan]. I will have to talk to the chairman but yes, I have got to now look to try and improve the team because it is not right."
