Barnet loanee Ben Tomlinson made his Tranmere Rovers debut on the right-hand side of midfield as his new club lost 1-0 at home to Dover Athletic on Saturday.

The 26-year-old joined National League Rovers on loan from the Bees for three months last Thursday and was handed an immediate start by boss Gary Brabin.

Tomlinson came closest to scoring his first goal of the season when he cut inside from the right and let fly with a low shot which Dover keeper Mitch Walker stopped.

Further down the non-league pyramid, young defender Harry Taylor got another 90 minutes under his belt as Hampton and Richmond Borough won 3-1 at Wingate & Finchley in the Isthmian Premier Division.

Brendan Kiernan scored twice with Charlie Moone getting the other for the Beavers at Summers Lane. Ahmet Rifat netted the Blues’ goal.

Former Bee Dean Sinclair got 90 minutes for the visitors.

In Isthmian Division One North, centre-back Joe Gater helped Cheshunt to a 2-0 win over Heybridge Swifts in the FA Trophy first qualifying round.

Gater, who was booked late on, played the full 90 minutes as Adam Bolle and Kyle Assante struck to knock out a Swifts side which included former Barnet keeper Sam Cowler.
