Martin Allen will look to sign cover for the right-hand side of midfield after Barnet decided not to appeal Andy Yiadom’s red card against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

The Bees skipper was given a straight red card with half an hour remaining for a strong challenge on Rovers' Stuart Sinclair.

Barnet held out to pick up a 1-0 win over the Gas and afterwards head coach Allen declared he would like to appeal to the decision.

However, after careful consideration the Bees boss told the Times Series he wouldn’t appeal Michael Bull’s decision to dismiss the winger.

He said: “There will be no appeal. I’ve reviewed it and there’s not enough evidence to put in an appeal. He’ll be banned for three games.”

That leaves the Bees light in the wide areas for games against Carlisle United, Stevenage and Portsmouth.

Curtis Weston has played on either flank in recent weeks but Luke Gambin is the only natural winger left in Allen’s first-team squad.

“We’re looking to add to the squad but I’m also committed to trying to bring through some young players,” explained Allen.

“But we do need [to add to the squad]. I think we’re down to about 14 fit outfield players. We’re short on the ground.

“We’ve got no senior cover at centre-back but plenty of centre-forwards and central midfielders.

“We’re looking to bring in a right-sider and a loan for centre-back at the moment but not many clubs are letting players go.”

Weston, usually a box-to-box central midfielder, filled in down the right side on Saturday for the remainder of the game and Allen was full of praise for his vice-captain.

He said: “I think a special mention needs to go to Curtis Weston for the job he did on Saturday.

"I sure all the supporters appreciated it – an attacking central midfield player [filling in down the right].

“We had to put Gavin Hoyte back inside because they had three centre-forwards and Curtis Weston picked up their wing-back and stopped him getting crosses into the box which is a crucial role.

“He played with discipline and control. I thought his performance over the far side for that last 25 minutes was fantastic. That’s the sort of spirit and unity we’ve got.”
