League Leaders King's Head Chess Club, hotly tipped to win the Middlesex League this season, dropped three points last night conceding four draws and one loss.
Sadly, not enough for Hendon Chess Club's First Team to earn a draw after a full three hour's play.
I was the first to finish; fortunately I found a trick in a difficult position which won a pawn. This encouraged my opponent to offer me a draw immediately!
Sreten fell foul of the 'no mobile phones' rule when his rang minutes before the close of play and his opponent immediately claimed the game.
Gary, Helge and Liviu scored good draws in long and difficult games. The performance of the night came from Dan Ellis, who scored a notable lone victory for the home side. His game was the last to finish, but several spectators pointed out afterwards that he had missed an easy win about half an hour earlier!
