Hendon are just 90 minutes from reaching the Conference South for the first time after beating Metropolitan Police 2-1 on Thursday evening to set up an Isthmian Premier Division Play-Off Final against Margate on Sunday.

The Greens overcame Met Police at Earlsmead by coming from behind. The visitors took the lead when Charlie Collins converted a 17th-minute penalty.

But Gary McCann's men were level when Casey Maclaren levelled just after the half-hour mark.

And early in the second half, Andre da Costa added to his personal collection of stunning strikes by curling home from 25 yards to turn the game on its head.

With 13 minutes remaining the Met were down to ten as Rob Bartley was dismissed. And it went from bad to worse as former Chelsea and Watford goalkeeper Stuart Searle was given his marching orders for handling outside the penalty area.

Hendon will now host Margate, who finished third in the regular season, at Earlsmead on Sunday (kick-off 3pm).

The club are advising supporters planning to attend the game to park locally rather than at the ground or use public transport if possible.
