Barnet have been forced to apologise for their failure to send a development team to face Bedfont & Feltham on Saturday, citing miscommunication as the reason for the no-show.

The Bees had agreed to send a development side to the Combined Counties Division One outfit on Saturday.

However, it became clear that had not happened when Bedfont tweeted to thank Barnet for their no-show and included a screenshot of the email in which the fixture was finalised.

That tweet has since been deleted and the hosts announced they would instead put on a game between two Bedfont XIs.

The Bees issued an apology via the club website on Saturday claiming miscommunication had been the reason for their failure to turn up, explaining they thought the fixture had been cancelled already.

The statement reads as follows:

"Barnet FC would like to issue an apology to Bedfont & Feltham FC for our failure to fulfil a pre-arranged friendly yesterday afternoon.

"With our Under-18s playing against QPR and a large number of our Development Squad involved in the first-team friendly against Maidenhead United, it was our understanding that the fixture had been cancelled.

"We accept full responsibility for the failure to properly inform our opposition, and are looking into the reasons behind the miscommunication that led to the confusion.

"We will be organising another friendly with Bedfont & Feltham in the near future to try and make up in some small way for our error."
