Andrew Johnston will tee off at 2.25pm for what is shaping up to be one of the most important rounds of his career after shooting a third consecutive under-par 18 holes at The Open.
The North Middlesex Golf Club member lies in fourth place at Royal Troon on five-under-par and will be partnered in the penultimate group by American Bill Haas as they bid to make inroads into the lead of Henrik Stenson. The Swede is currently one shot clear of Phil Mickelson on 12-under-par.
Following back-to-back rounds of 69, ‘Beef’ fired a third round of 70 yesterday and is currently one of only 18 players to be under par at the South Ayrshire links.
The 27-year-old Barnet golfer went out in a two-under par 34 following birdies at seven and nine, but let one of those shots slip in the back nine with bogeys on ten and 14, either side of a third birdie of his round on 13.
