Wingate and Finchley advanced to the FA Trophy second qualifying round with a 2-0 victory over Grays Athletic on Tuesday.

They required a replay to do so after Steve Wales’ strike secured a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Wingate had no such struggles at the second time of asking and goals from Billy Healey and Claudiu Vilcu secured a comfortable win.

The victory earned them a place in the second qualifying round where they face an away clash against Ryman North Division side Ware.

They return to league action on Saturday and take on Bognor Regis Town.

It was a less profitable midweek for Hendon as they went down to a 4-1 thumping at the hands of Kingstonian.

Niko Muir got the Hendon goal but they were outclassed by their Isthmian League Premier Division opponents.

Joe Turner, Aaron Lamont, Lee O’Leary and Youssef Bamba were on target for the visitors.

The loss piled further misery on Hendon after goals from Matt Blake (2), Christy Finch (2) and Gareth Heath saw Leiston trounce them 5-0 in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

Hendon will look to discover their form when they host Havant & Waterlooville in the league on Saturday.

Hadley bounced back from a chastening 8-1 defeat against Leverstock Green on Saturday by progressing in the Herts Senior Cup.

Tyrone Mulholland got their only goal of the game against Green but Hadley responded to the loss in fine fashion against Sawbridgeworth Town FC.

After going 1-0 down Charlie Mann made a vital penalty save to keep Hadley in the game and set up a fine comeback win.

Bilal Sanchez levelled the scores and Sam Lyon scored a second to set up a meeting with Hitchin Town in the next round.
