A man was rescued by fire crews and taken to hospital following a blaze in a bedsit.

Three fire engines and around 15 firefighters were called to Alexandra Road in Hendon just after 6.30pm on Saturday (January 28).

A bedsit on the first floor of a three-storey terraced house was completely destroyed by the fire.

One man was rescued by fire crews and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews, London Fire Brigade said.

Another man from a bedsit in the loft left the building before the brigade arrived.

The fire was under control by 8pm.

Fire crews from Hendon and Mill Hill fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service and the London Fire Brigade.
