Hertsmere Borough Council will meet this week to discuss how often it holds elections.
The council, which covers Borehamwood and Potters Bar, is due to meet on Wednesday evening to discuss the way that its councillors are elected into office.
Officials say a move to whole council elections every four years, instead of the current system of elections by thirds in three years out of four, could save Hertsmere around £160,000.
A number of individuals and groups have submitted their opinions to the council, which will be debated during the meeting.
The meeting, which will be open to the public, will be held at the civic offices in Elstree Way, Borehamwood from 7.30pm on Wednesday.
