Labour have managed to gain a seat from the Conservatives in a borough by-election.
Jeremy Newmark has been named the new councillor for the Borehamwood Kenilworth ward for Hertsmere Borough Council.
In a close run vote, Mr Newmark won 383 votes against Pat Strack for the Conservative Party getting 341.
Candidates Elaine Elliman for the Liberal Democrats won 144 votes, independent Lawrence Stack amassed 91 votes and Vikki Johnson for UKIP got 54 votes.
The turn-out for the election was 21.84 per cent and results were announced by Returning Officer, Hertsmere Borough Council’s Chief Executive Donald Graham yesterday night.
The election was triggered by Thomas Ash handing in his resignation in August.
